Innovate Energy Group is thrilled to spotlight the resurgence of American-made manufacturing, particularly in the realm of solar energy.
Incentives for clean energy are inspiring American companies to ramp up production and invest billions in expanding domestic solar manufacturing capacity. This surge in manufacturing is creating high-quality jobs nationwide, boosting American competitiveness globally, and solidifying America's role as a leader in clean energy production.
Over the next decade, solar manufacturing jobs are projected to more than triple, increasing from approximately 35,000 today to an estimated 120,000 by 2033. These investments are making solar energy more accessible and affordable for communities nationwide, transforming America into a clean energy manufacturing titan.
Investing in the solar supply chain also bolsters American energy independence. Solar power diversifies our energy mix, reduces reliance on foreign energy sources, and shields American families from the unpredictable price fluctuations of global oil markets. As the domestic solar supply chain strengthens, America is poised to dominate the clean energy economy.
From the Great Plains to the Sunbelt, America's manufacturing renaissance is revitalizing communities and transforming lives. Here are just a few examples of the significant investments and job creation happening across the nation.
Midwest Solar Manufacturing Takes Flight
In May, OMCO Solar unveiled its fifth U.S. manufacturing facility in Warsaw, Indiana. This new facility will support the production of solar trackers, devices that optimize the amount of sunlight hitting the panels to maximize energy production. As Midwestern states ramp up their manufacturing capabilities, local economies will flourish, benefiting the entire U.S. solar supply chain.
Georgia Fuels Solar Surge
Dalton, Georgia is welcoming $2.5 billion in solar manufacturing investments that will support the entire supply chain and create over 2,500 jobs. Qcells plans to add 2 GW of solar module assembly capacity in Dalton, bringing the company’s total solar panel production capacity in Georgia to 8.4 gigawatts by 2024.
Arizona Powers Up Battery Cell Production
U.S. battery developer Kore Power is partnering with Siemens to construct a new battery cell factory in Buckeye, Arizona. This plant will be one of the first gigafactories for battery cells in the U.S. that’s not affiliated with an automaker, enabling it to serve a wider range of customers.
Tennessee Anchors Manufacturing Growth
Nextracker is collaborating with MSS Steel Tubes USA on a new factory in Memphis, Tennessee, to manufacture low-carbon steel components for solar tracking systems. This facility will create 129 jobs, generate millions in local economic investment, and support projects in several southern states.
The resurgence of American manufacturing, particularly in the solar sector, is a testament to bipartisan policies and investments. For the first time in decades, domestic manufacturing and the U.S. solar supply chain are growing from coast to coast, strengthening American energy security, reliability, and independence. At Innovate Energy Group, we're proud to be part of this exciting era of growth and innovation in the renewable energy sector.
